Now, you must keep in mind eCommerce adds complexity to any Analytics configuration. Many large ecommerce platforms like Shopify still don’t have native GA4 support and the whole count setup is completely different.
What's in stake?
If you didn't set up your GA4 before november 2022, all of the data you gained on Black Friday and Christmas is at risk. Unless you do something, you are loosing the chance to do follow-up sales and see historic trends.
Also, Google has said that by the end of 2023 all of your data in Google Universal Analytics will be lost forever.
Can I migrate now?
Yes but, unfortunately, this isn’t a simple one-click transfer process. Google Analytics 4 is not a mere redesign of Universal Analytics, it’s a brand new product.
While it does offer a lot of the same functionality, it’s also doing things quite a bit differently — from its interface and available metrics to the way it quantifies the data collected.
Also you must bare in mind...
...that UA and GA4 have quite a few different metrics and tracking methods, you'll need to make sure everything is set up correctly. You may have to wait six to twelve months (or longer) before GA4 becomes your source of truth, even after getting started. So that you have a jump start before the July 2023 deadline.
